Anthem Improves Security Measures

In an effort to keep members’ information and privacy secure, Anthem removed the option for Social Security numbers to be used as a registration data point when members are setting up an online account on their secure member website.

To register, members will enter their member identification number (found on their ID card.) For members who forget their username or password, they’ll need to use their email address or ID number to find their account. The member’s first name, last name, and date of birth are still required for registration and for username or password account recovery.

Anthem Revises Rate Filing for 2018 Individual Plan Offerings in KY

Anthem recently announced that it will reduce its 2018 individual plan offerings in Kentucky and will only offer plans in 59 counties:

This decision does not affect those who have employer-based insurance, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Advantage health plans, or individuals enrolled in “grandfathered” plans (plans purchased before March 2010) or “grandmothered” plans (plans purchased before October 2013).

Individual members will soon receive an email sharing this news.

Anthem stand-alone plan offerings for dental, vision, and life benefits will not change, and will be available to current members and new customers in 2018.

Anthem Adds Plan G as Guaranteed Issue Plan

Anthem has announced that they will now include Loss of Group Coverage as a Guarantee Issue (GI) right situation to enroll into Plan G! This applies to those who have a GI right because they lost group coverage either primary or secondary to Medicare, and will apply whether the loss was voluntary or involuntary (based on state regulations).

The decision to allow enrollment into Plan G for these individuals will be effective with all Medicare Supplement applications received on 9/1/17 or later for all of our Anthem Blue states.

Anthem: No MLR Rebates for Indiana

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield recently filed a minimum medical loss ratio (MLR) report, as required by the ACA, for the 2016 calendar year.

Because Anthem met the required loss ratio in all lines of business in 2016, no notices will be sent and no rebates will be issued in Indiana. REMINDER: MLR requirements do not apply in the Administrative Services Only (ASO) market.

View this fact sheet for more details and FAQs.
