Important Information about Anthem 1095-B Tax Forms

Each year, Anthem sends members of fully insured groups tax form 1095-B, which confirms minimum qualifying health care coverage for IRS purposes. For groups that moved to their new operating system, called WGS, during 2018, members will get two 1095-B tax forms:

  1. One for the period of time the group’s membership was on the past operating system, Facets, and
  2. One for the period of time the group’s membership is on the current operating system, WGS.

Anthem’s 2019 Specialty Broker Bonus Program

Take advantage of Anthem’s 2019 Specialty Broker Bonus Program, which runs from February 1, 2019 through January 31, 2020.

This year’s program has been simplified so all fully insured programs are premium-based and premiums are aggregated vs. separate calculations by different products.

Anthem Cost Share Changes for Large Group Copay Plans

Anthem recently made changes to cost shares for copay plans only. These changes are effective upon renewal for Large Groups as they move to their new benefits administration system. These changes do not impact groups who have not yet moved to the new system, and they do not impact consumer-driven health (CDH) plans.

Important Notice Regarding Humana Billing Invoices

Humana recently released a free and secure electronic billing invoice that enables clients to pay their invoice quickly and safely without the use of paper.

A few benefits of the new system:

  • A reduction of paper and waste
  • Invoice is available immediately after the billing cycle closes
  • Can elect to receive notifications that the invoice is available along with various payment reminders and notifications
  • Can set up automatic recurring payments for a hassle free payment experience
  • Access to full details of invoice via PDF and Excel options

Beginning with the April invoice, paper invoices will no longer be mailed.

Outside of the open enrollment period, FormFire can help HR teams manage forms, qualifying life events and other documents.

  • FormFire’s Document Center is a great place for Employers to store and share documents like handbooks, dress codes, onboarding paperwork and more.
  • Turn on notifications to help keep track of employees in their group when they change coverage or have a qualifying life event. You can also view a Notification Summary of all Employee changes and updates.
  • Brokers can have selected forms automatically emailed to an HR Manager once an employee completes his or her application outside of an enrollment period. This is especially useful for Qualifying Life Events.

New AFA Plans Available

New AFA Plans Available. Aetna released their “Essentials” plans which feature lower cost share on PCP, lab and generic drugs with higher cost share on ER visits, imaging and specialty drugs. These plans run about 10% less than the other plans. Remember, AFA doesn’t limit the number of plans an employer can offer. See more in their flyer and plan grid.

January 28, 2019 UPDATE: Anthem SOCA MEWA is having 1094/1095B forms prepared on behalf of customers. They will be able to download from FormFire, review for correctness and send. Documents are expected to be posted by February 22, 2019. Click below for the updated ACA Reporting Guide.

Cornerstone has updated the 2018 ACA Reporting guide for agents to help them advise clients in level-funded, self-funded, or MEWA plans, as well as Applicable Large Employers. If a client was in one of these types of arrangements for any portion of 2018, they are responsible for this reporting.

Through Anthem’s quarterly formulary (drug list) review process, they make additions, deletions, and tier changes to drug lists that maintain the highest level of clinical integrity, while delivering cost savings to their members. Medications may move to a higher tier or be removed from our drug lists twice a year. The next update is coming soon, and the updated drugs lists* will be available as of April 1, 2019.
