UnitedHealthcare recently announced a few small group updates on their MEWA, UHC Level Funded, and Specialty Products to make it easier to quote and install.
Member-Level Census Underwriting Extended
UHC previously announced they would allow groups to be underwritten with a Member Level Census (GRa) from January 1, 2022, through May 1, 2022, effective dates. This has been a success, so they have now extended this indefinitely to allow brokers to quickly and easily do a market check to see their Ohio Chamber MEWA and UHC Level Funded products.
- Member-Level Census Underwriting: for groups with at least 10 enrolling employees, that have current group coverage (virgin groups excluded)
- FormFire and paper applications also accepted
120-Day Employee Applications
If you are using employee applications, those applications can now be up to 120 days old from the effective date (it was previously 90 days).
Medicaid Now a Valid Waiver
UHC previously changed their MEWA Participation requirement to 75 percent of net eligible employees (excluding valid waivers). Medicaid was originally considered a non-valid waiver, but starting with May 1, 2022, effective dates, Medicaid is now a valid waiver.
Specialty Bundling Program
Earn an administrative credit of up to $3,000 by selling two or more new lines of specialty coverage (see brochure for program details). This program previously required at least three lines of specialty coverage, but they have lowered it to two lines of specialty coverage. This program has been extended through December 2022 effective dates.
Direct Debit Form 2022
UHC has an updated direct debit form, available here. Please discard any older versions you have, and start using this updated form moving forward.
